The Kano State House of Assembly KNHA has urged the state government to upgrade the Takai NYSC cottage Clinic to a general hospital to enhance healthcare delivery for residents of Takai and surrounding communities.
The resolution followed a motion moved by the member representing Takai Constituency, Dr. Musa Ali Kachako, during plenary, presided over by the Speaker, Alhaji Jibril Ismail Falgore.
Presenting the motion, Dr. Kachako explained that he had been advocating for the upgrade since 2015, describing the facility as the only NYSC clinic in the state one that even predates the creation of the local government.
He emphasized that the clinic serves several neighboring communities, saying that ,the upgrade will go a long way in improving access to quality healthcare and ensuring effective service delivery.
Dr. Kachako added that the Takai clinic’s strategic location along the road from Kano to Jigawa makes it essential for emergency response and medical support, noting the absence of a general hospital along that route.
“From Maiduguri Road in Kano metropolis up to the road leading to Jigawa, there is no general hospital nearby to provide first aid in case of emergencies,” he explained.
“Takai, being a border local government between Kano, Jigawa, and Bauchi States, has the land, infrastructure, and personnel needed to support a full general hospital.”
He further disclosed that the facility already has trained healthcare workers who can complement additional staff once the clinic is upgraded.
After deliberation, the House unanimously adopted the motion, calling on the state government to approve the upgrade of the Takai NYSC Clinic to a general hospital.
In another development, the Assembly adopted motions calling on the state government to construct roads in Kumbotso and Tudun Wada Local Government Areas.
The member representing Tudun Wada Constituency, Sule Lawan Shuwaki, sponsored a motion seeking the construction of a road linking Hayin Yawa to Jandutse and Mala, while the member representing Kumbotso Constituency, Mudassir Zawaciki, called for the construction of a road from Sabon Titi in Madobi to Masallacin Sheikh Ja’afar.
Both lawmakers argued that the projects would ease transportation challenges, boost economic activities, and improve access to social amenities in their constituencies.
The house adjourned its sitting to the next day in a motion moved by the majority leader Lawan Hussaini Dala.
