The Kano State Government has inaugurated the State Programme Steering Committee (SPSC) for the Education and Youth Empowerment Programme in North Western Nigeria (EYEPINN) a European Union-funded initiative designed to expand access to quality education and empower young people across the region.
The inauguration ceremony, held in Kano, was presided over by the State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Abubakar Makoda.

Describing the EYEPINN project as a promise for a purpose, Dr. Makoda said the programme aims to bridge the education gap, enhance inclusiveness, and equip young people with relevant skills to reduce the number of out-of-school children in the state.
He explained that the newly inaugurated Steering Committee will provide strategic guidance, policy direction, oversight, and accountability for the effective implementation of EYEPINN activities across Kano.
The committee, he noted, comprises representatives from key Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, implementing partners, and the European Union Delegation.

During the meeting, implementing partners including UNICEF, PLAN International, UNESCO, and the Development Impact Evaluation (DIME) Unit of the World Bank delivered presentations outlining the project’s objectives, expected outcomes, and collaborative framework to strengthen education delivery and youth empowerment mechanisms in Kano and the wider North-West region.
