In a rare and profound expression of reverence, the Emir of Daura, His Royal Highness Alhaji Umar Faruk Umar, has declared that if royal tradition allowed, he would kneel in honor of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso a gesture symbolizing deep admiration for the former Kano State Governor.

The respected monarch made the heartfelt remark during a condolence visit by Senator Kwankwaso to the Daura Emirate and Katsina State, following the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

“Wallahi, if an Emir can kneel, I would kneel for you,” the Emir stated, drawing applause and surprise from those present. The moment was widely seen as an extraordinary royal endorsement, underscoring Kwankwaso’s national relevance and personal integrity.

The Emir spoke warmly about his longstanding relationship with Kwankwaso, recalling that the former governor was the first to facilitate the conferment of an honorary doctorate degree on him by a state university in Wudil. He also noted that Kwankwaso had invited him multiple times to Kano to commission major developmental projects during his tenure.

He fondly remembered his bond with Kwankwaso’s late father, describing it as a brotherhood that transcended ordinary friendship.

While paying tribute to the late President Buhari, the Emir described him as a man of truth and integrity, praying for Allah’s mercy upon his soul and for his eternal rest in Aljannah Firdausi. He commended Kwankwaso’s condolence visit as a noble gesture of respect and statesmanship.

Earlier in his remarks, Senator Kwankwaso extended condolences to the people of Daura, Katsina State, and the entire nation, saying he came to mourn a great leader and to stand in solidarity with the Emirate during its time of grief.

He expressed deep appreciation to the Emir for his continuous support, describing him as a father figure throughout his political career. Kwankwaso also prayed for the Emir’s good health and long reign, emphasizing the need for national unity and peace.

The delegation included Kano State Deputy Governor Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, elder statesman Engr. Buba Galadima, and other top members of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), further reflecting Kwankwaso’s enduring ties to traditional institutions and his cross-regional influence.
