The National Sports Commission (NSC) has launched a strong mobilisation drive for Nigerian supporters both at home and abroad ahead of the Super Eagles’ crucial World Cup playoff clash against Gabon, scheduled to take place on Thursday in Rabat, Morocco.
Under the leadership of Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko and Director General Hon. Bukola Olopade, the NSC has made comprehensive arrangements to ensure members of the various Nigerian supporters’ clubs are logistically supported to travel to Morocco.

The commission has also worked closely with the Nigerian community in North Africa to ensure an impressive turnout at the stadium.
Speaking on the initiative, Hon. Bukola Olopade, the Director General of the NSC, said the move was aimed at providing the Super Eagles with full backing from the stands throughout the 90 minutes of play.
“We have one of the best supporters’ clubs in the world, and throughout the success story of the Super Eagles over the years, they have always been the team’s 12th player from the days of the Green Eagles to the present. Their presence at the stadium cannot be overemphasized during such a crucial playoff game,”.

He added that logistical support had been extended to Nigerians residing in Morocco to encourage them to attend the match in large numbers.
“We want to make the stadium very intimidating for the Gabonese team because we have the population strength to do so,”
Meanwhile, the Interim Chairman of the Unified Nigeria Supporters Club, Prince Vincent Okumagba, commended the NSC for its collaboration and commitment to the supporters’ movement.
“We must commend Mallam Shehu Dikko and Hon. Bukola Olopade for their understanding of sports and their quick response to our needs. They truly understand the language of sports and have shown great concern and support,”
He expressed confidence that, with the collective backing of Nigerians at home and abroad, the Super Eagles would secure victory and book their ticket to the FIFA World Cup.
