A former Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Usman Yusuf, has been arraigned on five revised counts of fraud before the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Kuje, Abuja.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) brought the charges against Yusuf, alleging that he used his office to confer undue advantages to himself between 2016 and 2017.

Yusuf pleaded not guilty to the charges. His counsel, O.I Habeeb, requested that he be remanded in EFCC custody pending the hearing of his bail application.

However, Justice Chinyere Nwecheonwu ordered that Yusuf be remanded in the Kuje Correctional Centre, Abuja, pending the hearing of his bail application, scheduled for February 12, 2025.
