Bayero University, Kano (BUK) has commenced its 39th Convocation ceremonies, celebrating the academic achievements of 4,402 graduates from eleven faculties.
The convocation, which began on February 12, 2025, marks a significant milestone for the university and its graduating students.
The graduates, who hail from various disciplines, including Allied Health Sciences, Basic Medical Sciences, Clinical Sciences, Dentistry, Arts and Islamic Studies, Communication, Education, Engineering, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Pharmaceutical Sciences, were congratulated by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas.
In his address, Professor Abbas reaffirmed BUK’s commitment to excellence in education, research, and community service.
He outlined the university’s strategic vision, which includes transitioning to a research-driven institution, adopting a more science-based curriculum, integrating ICT-driven learning, and aligning with global best practices in higher education.
The Vice-Chancellor also emphasized the university’s efforts to enhance the student experience through various welfare initiatives, skill acquisition programs, and improved campus security.
He urged the graduates to uphold the virtues of integrity, excellence, and service, and to contribute meaningfully to the development of their communities and the nation.
The convocation ceremonies will continue for four days, featuring degree awards, honorary degrees, and a convocation lecture.
The graduates expressed their joy and gratitude to the university’s management for creating a conducive learning environment that supported their academic success.
