The Africa Health Budget Network (AHBN) in collaboration with SAMASHA organized a media dialogue in Kano to raise awareness on key health initiatives such as the MNCH

The event brought together media personnel to discuss Accelerated Action for Every Woman, Every Newborn Everywhere (EWENE), FP2030 Commitments, and Collaborative Advocacy Action Plan (CAAP).

AHBN Launches Health Security Accountability Framework

Chairman of AMG Foundation and lead convener, Dr. Aminu Magashi Garba, emphasized the importance of mobilizing the media to advocate for increased investments, policy implementation, and accountability in maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH), family planning, and gender-responsive healthcare systems.

He stressed the need for state and federal governments to commit to ensuring essential drugs and consumables are available across facilities.

Dr. Magashi also called for efforts to promote safe delivery among pregnant women and improve child health and nutrition.

Some of the participants who spoke to newsmen, the programs manager of Express Radio Hajiya Nafisa Murtala Ahmed described the media dialogue as apt and encouraged collaboration to bridge gaps in healthcare services and timely implementation.

Hauwa Sulaiman Zahradeen from Radio Kano emphasized the media’s responsibility in reporting and creating awareness on healthcare issues..

She also called on the state government to ensure timely release of funds for family planning commodities.

The media dialogue aimed to enhance awareness, generate media support, and drive strategic communication efforts to improve MNCH outcomes in Nigeria and globally.
