As part of efforts to track the 2024 federal government constituency and consolidated capital projects, the BudgIT Foundation, in collaboration with the European Union and International IDEA’s Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption (RoLAC) program, organized a town hall meeting in Dawakin Kudu LGA, Kano.
The meeting aimed to raise awareness about constituency projects implemented by elected officials in local government areas and communities .
BudgIT Foundation Hosts Socialization to Promote WEE Policy
In her opening remarks, the state officer of BudgiT Foundation Maryam Garba Usman, pointed out the objective of the town Hall meeting is to raise awareness on capital and constituency projects captured in the budget.
She maintained that, the tracka platform will enable citizens to advocate for implementation of the projects and collate their inputs for the development of the state and nation in general.
Maryam emphasized the importance of community members’ roles in ensuring effective fund utilization, proper project implementation, and promoting transparency and accountability in governance processes.
The town Hall meeting encouraged participants to become community champions, track projects, and report to the BudgIT Foundation.
The BudgIT Foundation’s social media handles were shared, and participants were encouraged to disseminate the information and knowledge gained from the meeting.
Speaking on behalf of the participants ward head of Yan Baro Alhaji Ahmadu Mai Fulani described the meeting as apt.
He pointed out that, as community leaders they have a vital role to play in sensitizing the public to ensure implementation of constituency and consolidated capital projects in Kano.
The event witnessed large turn out of representatives from political wards, CBOs, women’s groups, advocacy groups, community and religious leaders, and the media, who contributed with questions, comments, and recommendations.
Stakeholders Call for Establishment of Climate Change Clubs
This initiative is part of the BudgIT Foundation’s efforts to promote transparency and accountability in Nigeria’s public finance .
