The Kano State Government KNSG has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing women’s empowerment, marking International Women’s Day with a pledge to promote gender equality and social inclusion.

The Kano state commissioner for women children and disabled Hajiya Amina Abdullahi made the indication while briefing newsmen as part of activities to Commemorate the international women’s Day IWD 2025.

According to her, the state government under the leadership of Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has put modalities in place aimed at promoting women’s economic empowerment to make them self reliant.

She stressed that some of the initiatives includes,distribution of 7,158 goats to 2,386 women,N50,000 monthly empowerment program for vulnerable women, microfinance loans for women’s businesses and entrepreneurship
Training programs in various skills across women’s economic empowerment centers.

Hajiya Amina noted that, the state government also initiated Scholarship programs for girls and women, provision of food items and essential commodities among others.

The commissioner posited that,
the Ministry of Women Affairs, Children and Disabled is working to formulate policies and programs that promote gender equality and women’s empowerment.

“The ministry aims to provide training and capacity-building programs for women and establish partnerships with local and international organizations”

She described the theme for the 2025 IWD ‘For all women and girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment,’ as apt, saying that, it aligns with the state government’s commitment to promoting women’s empowerment and social inclusion.

Hajiya Amina emphasized the state government’s dedication to creating a more just and equitable society, where women can reach their full potential.
