As Muslims across Kano State prepare to mark the 2025 Eid-El-Kabir celebrations, the Kano State Police Command, in collaboration with sister security agencies, has extended warm greetings to the Muslim faithful and all law-abiding residents.
The Command also reaffirmed a total ban on all forms of Durbar activities during the festivities.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Command emphasized that comprehensive security measures have been put in place to ensure peaceful and hitch-free celebrations throughout the state.
Worshippers were urged to be law-abiding and conduct themselves peacefully, as security agencies are fully prepared to protect lives and property.
The Police reminded the public of the ban on Durbar activities that was initially enforced during the Eid-El-Fitr celebrations, citing credible intelligence about threats posed by miscreants who intended to exploit such events to disrupt public order.
The Command noted that these security concerns remain valid, hence the decision to maintain the ban during the upcoming Eid-El-Kabir.
“This decision was reached after consultations with security stakeholders, based on intelligence reports indicating that certain groups planned to use Durbar festivities to instigate violence and unrest,” the statement said.
The following security guidelines were outlined for strict compliance:
No horse or animal riding of any kind (Kilisa);
No car racing, reckless or dangerous driving;
No unlawful possession or display of firearms or weapons;
No carrying of items that could cause fear or suspicion.
Parents and guardians were advised to caution their children and wards against involvement in any subversive acts, as law enforcement will fully enforce these measures.
The Command also called on residents to avoid any actions likely to breach the peace or disrupt public safety.
While urging everyone to pray for the peace of the State and the nation, the police reiterated their commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
