Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Daniel Amah, renowned for rejecting a $200,000 bribe, has officially converted to Islam in a private ceremony held at the palace of the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II.
The ceremony, which took place on Tuesday, marked Amah’s formal adoption of the Islamic faith and the name Muhammad.

Addressing Amah in Hausa, the Emir encouraged him to deepen his understanding of Islam and uphold the five pillars of the faith: belief in Allah, daily prayers, fasting during Ramadan, pilgrimage to Mecca, and giving Zakat (charity).
The Emir prayed for Allah’s guidance, urging Amah to become an exemplary Muslim.
The Emir further advised Amah to maintain his commendable character and continue respecting and supporting his parents, irrespective of their religious beliefs.

Amah first gained national attention in April 2022 when, as the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State, he rejected a $200,000 bribe from robbery suspects.
The suspects had stolen over N300 million in a daring operation led by the prime suspect, Ali Zaki, who targeted a Bureau De Change operator carrying $750,000 in cash.

Recognizing his integrity, the Police Service Commission promoted Amah from Chief Superintendent of Police to Assistant Commissioner of Police on November 10, 2022.
Additionally, former President Muhammadu Buhari presented him with the 2022 Public Service Integrity Award, following a recommendation from Prof.Bolaji Owasanoye, Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), in a letter dated September 13, 2022.
