The People’s Democratic Party(PDP) in Kano State has elected Alhaji Yusuf Ado Kibiya as its new Chairman.
Kibiya secured a landslide victory, garnering 3,964 votes to defeat his opponent, Nura Nuhu, who scored 244 votes.
The results of the election were announced on Sunday by Halilu Abubakar Mazagani, Chairman of the election committee, from the National headquarters of the PDP.
Shortly after the announcement of the results, Barrister Abdul Fatah Muhammad administered the oath of office to the 39 newly-elected party officials, including Kibiya.
In his acceptance speech,Kibiya thanked members of the party for reposing their confidence in him and promised to lead with transparency and inclusiveness so as to revitalize the party in the state.
Kibiya was a Commissioner for Agriculture in the Rabiu Kwankwaso administration from 1999 to 2003.
About 5,000 delegates partook in the election which took place at the Sabon Gari Stadium,Kano,amid renewed hope among members of the party that the new leadership will take urgent steps to address the challenges facing the party in the state.
