After days of intense security operations, 38 persons abducted during the attack on Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Eruku in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State have regained their freedom.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Sunday announced their release, describing the development as a product of sustained collaboration between security agencies and the government at all levels.
He attributed the breakthrough to the “hands-on approach” of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, who he said personally led the efforts to secure the victims’ freedom.
According to the Governor, President Tinubu cancelled his scheduled trip to the G20 Summit in South Africa to directly oversee national security responses to the incidents in Kwara and Kebbi States.
He added that the President had ordered heightened deployments to Kwara, demonstrating his commitment to the safety of citizens.
Governor AbdulRazaq expressed appreciation to the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Intelligence Agency, and the Nigeria Police Force, which recently deployed four additional tactical teams to the state on the President’s directive.
He also thanked security personnel across formations, traditional and religious leaders, community stakeholders, and the people of Kwara State for their support throughout the ordeal.
The 38 abductees were released on Sunday, November 23.
