The Minister of Education, Professor Tahir Mamman, has accepted 16 years as the official age for admission into universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education in Nigeria.
This decision comes after stakeholders’ deliberation to provide opportunities for students under the age of 18 in the 2024 UTME.
Additionally, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has set admission cut-off marks at 140 for universities and 100 for polytechnics and colleges of education.
The JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, announced these decisions at the 2024 Policy Meeting on Admissions into Tertiary Institutions in Abuja.
