A 30-year-old woman, identified as Adama Hannafi, has reportedly taken her own life by hanging herself from a tree in Sumore village, Dutse Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
A resident informed newsmen that the tragic incident occurred on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at approximately 3:00 p.m.

The deceased, a housewife and mother of four, was said to have been battling mental illness before the incident.
According to the source, her body was discovered by passersby who promptly alerted security operatives.
Confirming the incident in a statement issued to newsmen, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Jigawa State Command, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, said a team of officers from the Yalwawa Division immediately visited the scene.

“Upon arrival, the team found the lifeless body of the woman hanging from a tree. The body was carefully lowered, examined, and no foul play was suspected,” he stated.
Shiisu added that the remains of the deceased were taken to Dutse General Hospital, where a medical doctor confirmed her death.
Preliminary investigation, according to the police, revealed that the deceased had been struggling with mental health challenges before the incident.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Dahiru Muhammad, expressed deep sorrow over the incident and called on the public to show empathy and support to relatives or neighbours exhibiting signs of mental distress.
He further advised families to seek medical and psychological assistance promptly to prevent similar tragedies
