President Bola Tinubu has sent a request to the National Assembly to increase the proposed 2025 Appropriation Bill from N49.7 trillion to N54.2 trillion.

Minister Defends 2025 Budget Prioritizes Education and TVET

In a letter addressed to the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, the President attributed the proposed increase to additional revenues generated by key government agencies.

These include N1.4 trillion from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), N1.2 trillion from the Nigeria Customs Service, and N1.8 trillion from other government-owned agencies.

The Senate President has referred the request to the Committee on Appropriations for expedited consideration.

The budget consideration is expected to be concluded and passed before the end of February.
