Kano State Government says it is poised to declare a State of Emergency on Education for the intellectual development of children in the state.
Governor Abba Yusuf announced this on the occasion marking the International Children’s Day Celebration in Kano.

Yusuf also informed the children of his administration’s determination to improve their wellbeing by ensuring quality Education.
He noted that the government would achieve this through sustaining free Education as well as construction and renovation of school infrastructure across the state.
The governor also promised free uniforms and feeding from Primary one to three in the state.
Governor Yusuf distributed N20, 000 cash as Empowerment to 500 students whom were trained on various skills.
Also speaking, the Kano state Commissioner for Women Affairs Children and the Disabled, Hajiya Aisha Lawan, commended the Governor for his initiatives on Education aimed at improving their lives.
She said, “also worthy to mention are the commitments of other MDAs, Donor organizations, Development Partners and all relevant stakeholders in the movement for the betterment and wellbeing of children in the State.”
The Speaker Children’s Parliament Kano State, Hauwa Ibrahim, called on the state Government to implement Child right act for the well-being of Children in the state.

World Children’s Day is UNICEF’s annual day of action for children, by children, marking the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
The theme for 2024 International Children’s Day is “For every child, every right.”
