The Commissioner of the Ministry of Women, Children, and Disabled, Hajiya Amina Abdullahi HOD, conducted an inspection tour of key facilities under her ministry, including the Tudun Maliki Torrey Home, Kwalli Vesico-Vaginal Fistula (VVF) Rehabilitation Center, and the Lost and Found Home at Sheka Quarter.

This initiative, carried out today, aimed to assess the state of these institutions, gather firsthand information, and address the challenges faced by their management and residents.

According to Bintu Nuhu Yakasai, Director of Public Enlightenment, Kano State Ministry of Women Affairs, Children, and Disabled, the Commissioner’s visit reflects her proactive approach toward creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for vulnerable populations.

She emphasized that the Commissioner’s leadership demonstrates a renewed focus on the well-being and empowerment of women, children, and persons with disabilities in Kano State.

At the Tudun Maliki Torrey Home, the Commissioner identified critical gaps, particularly the absence of health personnel at the facility’s clinic.

She stressed the urgent need for medical staff to handle emergencies and ensure the safety of residents.

Additionally, she proposed establishing a recreational center within the home, aiming to enrich the mental and emotional well-being of the residents through engaging activities.

While at the Kwalli VVF Rehabilitation Center, Hajiya Amina pledged comprehensive support to the facility, reiterating her commitment to improving the care provided to VVF patients.

Her plans encompass holistic measures, including medical treatment, psychological counseling, and social reintegration programs to restore the dignity of these individuals.

The Commissioner was accompanied by a team of senior officials, including Muttaka Iliyasu Yakasai, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, and Hajiya Sadiya Abdu Bichi, Senior Adviser.

Together, they underscored the ministry’s dedication to addressing challenges and ensuring sustainable solutions for Kano’s most vulnerable groups.
