The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) have officially handed over multi-million-naira climate-resilient facilities to the Jigawa State Government as part of efforts to strengthen healthcare, education, and sustainable development.
The projects, commissioned in Chamo community of Dutse Local Government Area, include upgraded modern healthcare facilities and a new school structure.

Governor Umar Namadi, alongside senior government officials, FCDO, and UNICEF representatives, inaugurated the projects during a colorful ceremony that marked a milestone in the state’s development drive.
Speaking at the event, experts from FCDO and UNICEF reaffirmed the United Kingdom’s commitment to supporting Jigawa in building climate-resilient structures that safeguard human lives, protect agriculture, and promote sustainable growth.

Governor Namadi commended FCDO and UNICEF for their consistent support, describing the projects as a boost to his administration’s vision of strengthening healthcare and education while mitigating climate risks.

UNICEF’s Country Representative, Wafa Saeed Abdellatef, and FCDO’s Cynthia Rowe, lauded Jigawa as a model state in nutrition, sanitation, and climate resilience, expressing confidence in the leadership’s commitment to transformative governance.
Over the past two years, FCDO and UNICEF have supported the upgrading of more than 90 facilities across Jigawa into climate-resilient structures, ensuring that children learn in safe environments and communities gain access to critical health services for improved quality of life.
