The Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Geoffery Nnaji, has said the Ministry, through the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), is poised to provide every Nigerian with clean, reliable and affordable energy while ensuring Innovation, Industrial growth, job creation and environmental stewardship.

He made the statement on the occasion of establishing the National Committee on Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency, Innovation and Certification (NCREEIC) domicile in the Energy Commission of Nigeria and signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with High Voltage 101 Limited today, in Abuja.
According to Uche the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding with key drivers and Partners and the formal establishment of the National Committee on Renewable Energy, Efficiency, Innovation and Certification, is now charting a bold new course in Africa’s Energy transition for the socio-economic development of the country in line with the Renew Hope Agenda of the present Administration.
Nigeria Signs MoU with China to Boost Renewable Energy
The Minister explained that the Ministry has invited critical Ministries to nominate members to be part of the inter-ministerial initiative that reflects the broad strength of the Government working together with industry and society.
He then urged the committee to focus on four critical areas, which include: Innovation and Research, Collaboration, Local Content Development, Certification and Standards.
Speaking, the Director of Energy Commission of Nigeria, Dr. Mustahpa Abdullahi, said that the country has made notable progress in establishing institutional frameworks to support the development, coordination, and implementation of energy efficiency initiatives across key sectors such as industry, buildings, appliances, and transportation.
He also added that ECN has established the National Centre for Energy Efficiency and Conservation (NCEECI), hosted at the University of Lagos, where research activities and appliance testing are conducted.
Speaking also, the Managing Director of High Voltage 101 Limited, Chijioke NwaDavid, commended the effort of the Hon Minister, saying that this is a transformational step in Nigeria’s pursuit of Energy sustainability, Innovation, and building the economy.
