Katsina State has recorded a proud milestone at the ongoing National Youth Games in Asaba as Aliyu Bara’u clinched the Gold Medal in the Best Gross Golf Game category, the state’s very first gold medal at the tournament.
Bara’u, one of Katsina’s most promising golf talents, delivered an impressive performance, finishing with a gross score of 76 points to outplay strong contenders from Plateau and Ekiti States.

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda received the news with great delight and congratulated Aliyu Bara’u for making the state proud.
The Governor described the victory as a testament to the dedication, hard work, and growing potential of Katsina’s young athletes.
“This gold medal is not just Aliyu Bara’u’s personal achievement, it is a victory for Katsina State,” Governor Radda said.
“It shows what determination and discipline can achieve. We are proud of him and of all our athletes still competing. I assure you that this administration will continue to invest in sports and create more opportunities for our youth to excel.”
Governor Radda also noted that Katsina’s contingent is still competing in Badminton, Fives, and Kokowa (Traditional Wrestling), expressing optimism that more medals will follow.

He reaffirmed that his government will continue to celebrate and support athletes who bring honour to the state, just as it recently did with champions of Fives, Judo, and Traditional Boxing during a colourful medal and trophy presentation ceremony.
The Governor further encouraged all young athletes to remain focused and dedicated, assuring them that his administration is exploring more ways to support their growth, including potential sponsorships for international tournaments that will showcase Katsina’s sporting talent on the global stage.
