A resident professional golfer, Lawan Malam, has applauded the Commandant of the 3 Motorists Brigade, Bukavu Barracks, Brigadier General A.M. Tukur, for supporting the renovation and reopening of the historic Hole No. 3 Tee Box at the Kano Club Golf Section.
While conducting a tour of the renovated facility, Malam described the project as a significant step towards developing golfers’ skills and talents in Kano.

Lawan Malam, who was the first professional golfer from Northern Nigeria to participate in the British Open Golf Championship alongside Tiger Woods and others between 2002 and 2005, said the Kano Golf Section—established in 1908—requires regular renovations to sustain and grow the sport.
He commended individuals and organizations who supported the renovation and called on corporate bodies and wealthy individuals to contribute towards the overall development of golf in the state and across the country.

“Kano is blessed with many hidden talents who only need moral and financial backing to excel at both national and international levels,” he said.
The project was officially commissioned by Brigadier General A.M. Tukur, Brigade Commander, 3 Motorists Brigade, Kano.
Dignitaries at the event included Group Captain Suleiman, Air Force Commander, Kano; Rear Admiral Emmanuel, Navy Commander, Kano; CP Muhammad Bakori, Commissioner of Police, Kano; Major General S.M. Ahmed, Major General A.S.M. Ease, and Major General U.A. Yusif.
The ceremonial tee-off was performed by Major General G.U. Chibuisi.
