The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Kano Command, says it has rescued 13 victims of human trafficking, in the state.

The Kano State Commandant NSCDC Mohammed Lawal-Falala, disclosed this to newsmen.

He explained that the victims were rescued on May 20th at Dan Tsinke Quarters in Tarauni Local Government Kano.

According to him, NSCDC received information that a man keeps young female children in his house and trafficks them to Cameroon to seek greener pastures.

Falala noted that one suspect was arrested by the operatives of the corps for keeping the victims in his house, while the two prime suspects were still at large.

“The rescued victims included five women, three female children, a boy and four men. The victims were on their way to Maiduguri en route to Cameroon for labour exploitation”

The commandant pointed out that the victims would be handed over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), for necessary action.

“Out of the 13 victims, 10 are from Kano, while three are from Jigawa State”

Similarly, the corps also arrested a suspect, who specialises in stealing tricycles and handsets.

Falala maintained that several people visited the NSCDC office to complain about tricycle theft.

He hinted that the suspects would be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.

Speaking to newsmen, the suspect said that he normally disguises as if he has a fracture on his leg tied with a bandage and boards a tricycle with his friends.
