The Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comr. Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to advancing digital innovation and youth empowerment through artificial intelligence (AI).
During a working visit to Afrilab AI Hub in Zaria, the Commissioner inspected the company’s operations and training facilities, acknowledging its role in equipping young talents with cutting-edge AI skills.

The Commissioner stated that the visit was in line with the directive of Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf to engage the management of Afrilab AI Hub in discussions on the possibility of relocating their operations to Kano State.
He emphasized that the state government is keen on fostering an enabling environment for AI-driven development, aligning with its vision for technological advancement and economic growth.

Comrade Waiya assured the company of the government’s full support, including necessary policy backing and incentives, to facilitate their establishment in Kano.
He noted that the presence of Afrilab AI Hub in the state would accelerate skill development, create job opportunities, and position Kano as a leader in AI and digital technology.
He further reiterated that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf remains committed to initiatives that enhance the lives of young people, particularly through modern technology and innovation.

Shu’aibu Damat assured the Commissioner of their readiness to collaborate with the Kano State Government and pledged to work together to create digital job opportunities for the teeming youth in Kano through AI skills development and training.
He also expressed the company’s commitment to relocating its headquarters to Kano, leveraging the state’s existing infrastructure to support its operations and expansion.
