The Kano state House of Assembly has passed the Kano state Censorship Board Amendment bill 2025 .
This was sequel to consideration in the committee of the whole house and third reading by the clerk, Bashir Diso, during Monday’s plenary presided over by the Speaker, Ismail Jibril Falgore.
Kano Assembly Passes Bill Establishing State Security Agency
Speaking to newsmen shortly after plenary, majority of the House and member representing Dala Constituency, Lawan Husseini, explained that amendment has given the Board to be in full control of registering event centers and also ensure strict compliance to Islamic principles during programs.
He explained that the name has now been changed from State Censorship Board to Kano State Censorship Board, noting that it will also ensure all films, series, and serials are censored or certified by the board before being aired.

“This law also prohibits indiscriminate shooting of films without the permission of the board in the state,” he noted.
Similarly, the bill to establish Kano State Water Users Association (WUA) 2025, has scaled second reading.
The bill seeks to establish the association of irrigation farmers that use water from dams to be able to assess support and water from the canals to boost irrigation farming activities and also take care of the dams in the state.
