Kano, Nigeria – The Kano State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, has been conferred with two prestigious awards by students groups in recognition of his outstanding achievements in transforming the state’s health sector.

The Voice of Northern Nigeria Students (VONNIS) presented Dr. Labaran with the Man of Gold Award, while the Arewa Students Forum (ASF) bestowed upon him the Distinguish Merit Award.

According to the National President of VONNIS, Musa Abdussalam Muhammad Wakili, Dr. Labaran was honored for his integrity, expertise, and commitment to discharging his duties.

“In just one year, Dr. Labaran has achieved a lot in changing the shape of the state health sector,” Wakili said.

Similarly, the National President of ASF, Abubakar Abdullahi, praised Dr. Labaran’s dexterity in revamping the health sector, urging him to continue improving the sector.

In his response, Dr. Labaran thanked the associations for their recognition, emphasizing the importance of promoting positive cultures, curbing drug abuse, and preventing cholera.

He assured them that he would continue to work tirelessly to fulfill the vision of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for the state’s health sector.

The awards ceremony was attended by officials from the Kano State Ministry of Health and representatives from the students groups
