This development was disclosed by the Director General, Special Services Directorate, AVM Ibrahim Umar, following a strategic meeting with leaders of warring thug groups and ward heads from areas such as Kofar Mata, Yakasai, Zango, and Fagge, held at the Kano Government House on Sunday.
According to Usman Gwadabe, Director of Public Enlightenment at Kano Government House, the violence is primarily driven by unemployment, drug abuse, and political manipulation, particularly by elements of the opposition residing in Abuja.
During the meeting, thuggery leaders acknowledged the destructive role of external influences and pledged to work collaboratively under a unified framework to restore peace and stability in the affected areas.

AVM Umar expressed optimism over the resolutions reached, stating that the youths have recognized the detrimental effects of their actions on the state’s economic and social well-being.
He urged them to abandon violence, pursue personal and communal development, and assured them of the government’s commitment to providing support, including covering medical expenses for those injured in recent clashes.
In a significant step towards reconciliation, leaders of the opposing groups, Jibrin Aminu Yakasai and Abdulrazak Sani Abdulkadir (Danmallam), affirmed their readiness to end hostilities and called on the government to create job opportunities for the youth.
The DG also called on opposition parties to prioritize peace and harmony, warning that electoral success in 2027 depends on fostering unity and stability.
