The Kano State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in addressing the recent surge in thuggery activities in Kofar Mata Quarters, Kano.
On December 24, 2024, at approximately 8:40 pm, a team of policemen deployed at Kofar Mata/Zango junction arrested Kabiru Jamilu, a 21-year-old resident of Zango Quarters Kano.
Kano Police Command Arrests 24 Suspected Thugs, Weapons
Jamilu was identified as the mastermind behind the resurgence of Daba fighting between Kofar Mata and Zango youths.
According to SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, ANIPR, MNISMA, Police Public Relations Officer, For: Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, preliminary investigations revealed that Kabiru Jamilu confessed to spearheading the fighting.
Further investigations led to the arrest of Umar Garba, a 32-year-old resident of Zango Quarters Kano, who was found in possession of a sharp long knife.
Kano Police Command Takes Proactive Measures to Ensure Safety
Both suspects have been transferred to the Command’s Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Salman Dogo Garba, urges residents of Kofar Mata and Zango Quarters to cooperate with the Police by providing information to completely address the situation.
