The Kano state 2025 proposed appropriation bill has scaled 2nd reading.
This was a sequel to deliberations on the floor of the house during a plenary presided over by the speaker Alhaji Jibril Isma’il Falgore.
Member representing Dala constituency who doubles as the majority leader of the house, Alhaji Lawan Hussaini Dala explained that, if passed the 2025 proposed budget size of N549,160,417,663.00 billion tagged ‘budget of hope, human capital and economic development, will go a long way in uplifting Kano to global standard.
He highlighted that, the 2025 budget according to the state government will be financed through opening balance of 24 billion naira, internally generated revenue IGR, federal allocation among others.
Lawan Hussaini urged the house to scrutinize and carry out the necessary legislative action to expedite the passage of the proposed appropriation bill.
The deputy speaker Alhaji Muhammad Bello Butu Butu, commended the executive for tagging the capital expenditure higher than the recurrent expenditure.
He called on committee chairmen to put into consideration, the performance of ministries departments and agencies MDAs in the outgoing 2024 year, as well as revenue generation during bilateral discussions.
Salisu Ibrahim Muhammad representing Doguwa Constituency described the allocation of 31% of the total budget to education as apt.
He urged all relevant stakeholders to put their heads together to ensure adequate utilization of funds.
The speaker, Alhaji Jibril Isma’il Falgore, also emphasized the need to focus more attention on people-oriented projects during the budget public hearing to move the state forward.
