The Kano State Hospitals Management Board (HMB) has introduced a comprehensive plan to improve service delivery in government-owned health facilities across the state.

The new measures were announced by the Executive Secretary of the Board, Dr. Mansur Mudi Nagoda, during a top management meeting for the first quarter of 2025.

HMB Showcases Achievements Rewards Deserving staff

The plan is part of an intense and strategic campaign to revitalize the entire health sector in Kano State. Key measures introduced include:

Mandatory thorough cleaning of all health facilities

Vigorous campaign for attitudinal change among staff

Routine auditing and vetting of Drug Revolving Fund (DRF) and Kano State Contributory Health Insurance (KSCHMA) schemes

Proper usage of utilization registers with patients’ full details

Formation of a sanitation committee

Reorganizing training for DRF/KSCHMA operations and upgrading the clinical unit at Imam Wali

Dr. Nagoda expressed concern over the unsanitary condition of some facilities, despite the state government providing enough cleaning and cleansing materials.

He warned that sabotage from staff will not be tolerated, emphasizing that the resolutions were made in good faith.

The Kano State Government, led by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, is providing support to health facilities, including free cleansing materials, delivery kits, and accident and emergency drugs.

The meeting was attended by directors of the Board, Zonal Directors, and Chief Medical Directors of state-owned facilities, as well as the Director-General of Kano State Center for Disease Control (KNCDC) Prof. Muhammad Abbas and the Director-General of Kano State Agency for the Control of Aids (KSACA) Dr. Usman Bashir.
