Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State recently emphasized the importance of science in addressing global challenges and empowering communities worldwide.
At the closing ceremony of the annual Science & Technology Week and World Science Day, he praised this year’s theme, “Global Science for Global Well-being,” highlighting its relevance to Kano State.
Represented by the deputy governor Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, the governor announced that the Kano State government has approved the establishment of CBT ICT centers in all 44 local government areas, with a pilot project already underway.
This move is part of the state’s efforts to leverage science and technology for socio-economic development and betterment of humanity.
Commissioner for Science, Technology, and Innovation, Alh. Mohammed Tajo Othman, also stressed that science and technology drive growth in every aspect of life.
To instill tech skills from an early age, the state is working to introduce STEM education into the secondary school curriculum.
The annual Science and Technology Week serves as a valuable platform for young talents to showcase their abilities, with the Ministry dedicated to supporting these efforts.
The event featured paper presentations, drama, exhibitions, and awards honoring outstanding schools and individuals for their contributions to science and technology in Kano State.

These centers provide opportunities for students to develop their skills and knowledge in science and technology.
