In a major operation aimed at maintaining peace and order, the Kano State Task Force Committee on Peace Restoration and Youth Rehabilitation has arrested 28 suspected thugs (Yan Daba) and recovered a cache of dangerous weapons and illicit drugs.

The operation, which took place between March 3rd and 13th, 2025, was a collaborative effort between various security agencies, including, Police,NDLEA,DSS,NSCDC,Nigerian Correctional Service,Immigration,Vigilante Group,
Recovered Exhibits.

The task force recovered several items,including 283 parcels and 14 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Cannabis Sativa,One cutlass,Three scissors,One pointed-iron,Two bottles of “suck and die”,Thirteen packets of Knockouts (bangers) and One rubber solution.

The suspects have been charged to Chief Magistrate Court No. 12 at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) for prosecution. Furthermore, the Task Force Committee has reiterated the ban on all forms of traditional performance known as “Tashe,” which has been associated with thuggery-related activities.

The use of knockouts (bangers) is also strictly prohibited, and violators will face the full weight of the law.

The Chairman of the Committee,who doubles as commissioner science and technology Yusuf Ibrahim Kofar mata, commended the dedication of security personnel and urged law-abiding citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies to ensure a peaceful and secure Kano State.
