The executive director of Citizens for Development CDE Ambassador Ibrahim Waiya, the Kano state government has approved a project called Safe Corridor to support, rehabilitate, reform, and empower 207 repentant youths.
Ambassador Waiya, who doubles as the convener/head of the Secretariat Kano Peace Committee, made the indication during a media parley.
According to him, the youths have been profiled and will undergo formal orientation next week.
“Already 207 youth have been identified and we have informed them of the intention of the state government to engage them”
The chairman pointed out that, after necessary profiling and orientation the national drug law enforcement agency NDLEA will conduct an as Assessment of the repentant thugs to ascertain their health status before developing a template.
“On how they will be fully rehabilitated before undergoing reformation and empowerment by the state government”
He highlighted that the Kano Peace Committee will work in collaboration with the Nigerian police force and Hisbah board, among others.
“ As well as the office of the Special Adviser Joint Security Services, Special Adviser on community policing”
The convener of the Kano peace committee highlighted that the CDE KPC will do everything possible to move Kano to global standard through programs aimed at empowering youths and making them self-reliant.
Recall that few days to the Kano state local government election Ambassador Ibrahim Waiya invited repentant youths to discuss on possible ways ensuring fair and violent free election.
