The Kebbi State Police Command has presented cheques worth ₦33 million to 50 families of police officers who lost their lives in active service.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital.
According to the statement, the financial support was disbursed under the Group Life Assurance and Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Family Welfare Schemes, designed to assist the families of officers who died in the line of duty.
Speaking during the presentation, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Sani, commended the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, for his sustained efforts to improve the welfare of officers and their families.
“IGP Egbetokun’s leadership has demonstrated exceptional commitment to enhancing the welfare of police personnel. His kindness and compassion continue to uplift the morale and well-being of officers nationwide,” CP Sani said.
He advised the beneficiaries to invest the funds wisely in ventures that would sustain their families and secure their future.
“Use this support responsibly. Consider your long-term goals and ensure that the money benefits your families in a meaningful way,” the commissioner urged.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Sonnen Simeon Mome expressed heartfelt appreciation to the IGP for the gesture, describing it as timely and impactful.
“We are deeply grateful to the Inspector-General for this show of love and generosity. This assistance will go a long way in improving our lives, and we assure you it will be used judiciously,” he said.
The initiative, according to the statement, highlights the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to the welfare of its personnel and to supporting the families of those who paid the ultimate price in service to the nation.
