The Kebbi State Police Command has commenced investigation into the killing of one Salihu Hassan of Gura Guri village, Makera District, in Birnin Kebbi Local Government Area.
According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, the victim was discovered on November 24, 2025, lying in a pool of blood at the Ilelaryari area of Birnin Kebbi.
Police operatives and vigilante members immediately evacuated him to Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital, where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
Acting on credible intelligence, the Police arrested a 22-year-old suspect, identified as Jame Jidda of Ilelaryari area, in connection with the killing.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect confessed to stabbing the deceased in the neck with a sharp knife following an argument.
The Command said efforts are ongoing to recover relevant exhibits and transfer the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
In a separate development, the State Police Command has arrested a suspected motorcycle thief, one Muhammad Sa’idu of Warrah town in Ngaski Local Government Area, for allegedly stealing a Bajaj motorcycle belonging to one Murtala Ibrahim of the same town.
CSP Nafiu Abubakar disclosed that Sa’idu was arrested alongside one Kabiru Suleiman on November 20, 2025, by the Divisional Police Officer in Warrah. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to conspiring with several accomplices, including one Abdulrahman of Tungan Mairuwa village, and Hassan Kamaye and Hussaini Kamaye of Auna town in Magama LGA of Niger State. Two additional suspects, Yahuza Aliyu and Umar Kapon, are still at large.
A search conducted at the residence of the fleeing suspect, Yahuza Aliyu, led to the recovery of several suspected stolen items, including:
* Two sewing machines
* Two boat engines
* Three pumping machines
* Two generator sets
* Two grinding machines
* One plasma television
* Four motorcycles
* One six-kilogram gas cylinder cooker
* Two big solar panels
* Three motorcycle tanks
The Command assured that further investigations are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects and recover more stolen items.
