The Livestock Productivity and Resilience Project (L-PRES) has commenced a three days Training for Live Stock Extension and Livestock Development Officers on Good Animal Husbandry Practices with the aim of enhancing livestock production in the country.

Speaking during the opening ceremony the Kano Project Coordinator of L-PRES, Dr Salisu Muhammad Inuwa, who was Represent by the Dr. Ahmad Abubakar , Monitoring and Evaluation Officer of the L-PRESS said the training was aimed at enhancing the capacity of extension and Livestock Development Officers with a view to boost livestock production in Kano state and the nation at large.

The Commissioner for Agriculture Kano State Dr Danjuma Mahmud represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Sadi Ibrahim said enhancing Agricultural production was among the key priorities of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s Administration.

He said Kano state was Committed towards transforming the Agricultural sector through collaboration with other donor partners in conducting siMilar training to enhance Agricultural production.

The commissioner noted the current administration in Kano was working towards providing a modern Abbotour for ensuring sanity in the beef production value chain to ensure proper hygiene.

The managing Director of Kano State Agricultural and Rural Development KNARDA, Dr Faruk Kurawa, said the capacity-building training would go a long way in enhancing the production of beef and milk production, stressing that the result will boost the nation’s Economy.

“The impact of this training would be huge because the level of beef and milk production would increase, and it will change the narrative of livestock production .”

He added that the Kano state government was working assiduously in ensuring that the graze reserves were adequately utilised, geared towards curtailing clashes between farmers and herders in the state.

Earlier Abubakar Muhammad, the Animal Husbandry officer who coordinated the training said that the training is aimed at developing the capacity of livestock extension officers across the state.

Resource persons came from department of Animal Science, Bayero University Kano and Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology Wudil.
