The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has reaffirmed its commitment to addressing the building material needs of Nigerians.
The Permanent Secretary of the ministry Dr. Shuaib Belgore, emphasized the importance of partnering with local building material producers to promote domestic manufacturing.

Dr. Belgore stated that the Ministry is interested in partnering with the Building Materials Producers Association of Nigeria (BUMPAN) to ensure that most building materials are produced locally.
“This partnership aims to promote and expand local manufacturing, creating jobs for manufacturers, builders, artisans, and others”
The Ministry is open to Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) to advance the solution to local building material needs and housing problems in Nigeria.
“The departments of Public Building and Procurement will serve as committees to facilitate this partnership”
Dr. Belgore hinted that, using locally sourced materials in construction projects can help create more jobs and stimulate economic growth.

“The Ministry encourages the use of Nigerian-made doors, tiles, glass, keys, and window frames in building projects”
The President of BUMPAN, Abdulhakeem Huthman, requested the Ministry’s assistance in establishing a secretariat and appointing an executive to run the Association’s affairs.
“BUMPAN welcomes the Ministry’s support in promoting local building material production”
The Ministry and BUMPAN will work together to evaluate the progress of local manufacturers and address the challenges facing the industry.
This partnership is expected to contribute significantly to Nigeria’s economic development and housing sector growth.
