The national agency for the prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Kano Zonal Command, has received 15 rescued victims of human trafficking.
The agency’s Zonal Commander, Abdullahi Babale, received the rescued victims from the Nigeria Police Force Kano State Command.
Babale pointed out that the victims, whose final destination was Libya, were rescued in a house at Bachirawa Quarters in Kano by a team of policemen attached to the Division.
The NAPTIP boss highlighted that the ages of the victims being trafficked ranged between 17 and 40 and comprised of 14 females and one male.
“The rescued victims are from Akwa Ibom, Ogun, Cross River and Ekiti State”
He commended the Kano State Commissioner of Police, Mr Salman Dogo-Garba, for his cooperation.
The Zonal Commander noted that the victims would be counselled and rehabilitated before being reunited with their families.
He called on parents to protect their children from being exploited and lured into slavery in the name of seeking for greener pasture.
Babale urged the public to report suspicious cases of human traffickers and trafficking in their respective communities.
