The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Kano Territorial Office (KTO) organized a two-day training workshop on disaster response management and coordination for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) officers, Jigawa State Command.

The delegation was warmly received by the Jigawa State Commandant of the NSCDC, Danjuma Muhammad.

He called for joint efforts in sensitizing communities by organizing awareness campaigns, conducting simulations, and holding training sessioNs aimed at educating the public on early warning systems.

He further advocated for strengthening the existing ties between NEMA and NSCDC while exploring new avenues of collaboration to ensure continued and effective cooperation in disaster management.

The two-day program featured comprehensive training sessions that combined theoretical knowledge with hands-on practical exercises.

Officers were trained on the use of various search and rescue equipment, as well as on modern disaster management techniques.

These sessions are expected to significantly enhance the capacity of NSCDC officers in responding to emergencies and disasters, thus contributing to a more coordinated and effective disaster management approach in Jigawa State.

NEMA’s initiative is part of its broader efforts to build resilience across the country by collaborating with key agencies and equipping them with the skills and tools necessary for efficient disaster response.
