Kano, Nigeria – The Kano chapter of the National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has inaugurated a new team of executives, led by Chairperson Bahijja Malam Kabara, a seasoned journalist from the Kano State Ministry of Information.
In her Inaugural speech, Kabara pledged to prioritize the professional development of women journalists, promote gender equity in media representation, and foster partnerships with the government to improve the welfare of women and children.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by top officials from NAWOJ and the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), including Aisha K. Burra, National President of NAWOJ, and Abdulrazaq Bello Kaura, Zonal Secretary of NUJ.
The new executives, who were sworn in by Barrister Adama from the Kano State Ministry of Justice, include:
Bahijja Malam Kabara – Chairperson
Halima Yusuf Angulu – Vice Chairperson
Maryam Muhammad Yakasai – Secretary
Aisha Muhammad Yalleman – Assistant Secretary
Hauwa Mustapha – Financial Secretary
Rabi Bature – Treasurer
Binta Kabir Usman – Auditor
With their inauguration, the new leadership has vowed to take NAWOJ Kano chapter to greater heights, promoting professionalism, gender equality, and the welfare of women and children in the media industry.
