The National Sports Commission (NSC) has announced plans to embark on a comprehensive inspection of sports facilities in Enugu State from October 21 to 24, 2025, as part of preparations for the upcoming 23rd National Sports Festival, tagged “Coal City Games 2026.”
According to the Commission, the inspection exercise is a vital step toward ensuring that facilities meet the required standards for hosting a world-class sporting event that celebrates excellence, unity, and talent development across Nigeria.
NSC Endorses AFFAN for National Sports Federation Boards
During the four-day exercise, the inspection team will assess existing sports infrastructure, review progress on ongoing upgrades, and hold engagements with key stakeholders to ensure Enugu’s full readiness to host thousands of athletes and spectators from across the country.
The Commission commended the Enugu State Government for its unwavering commitment to delivering a successful festival, describing the partnership as a reflection of the shared vision to elevate Nigeria’s sporting profile.

“The National Sports Festival stands as Nigeria’s premier multi-sport event, serving as a breeding ground for future champions and a beacon of national unity,” the NSC noted.
