Over 90 people were reportedly killed, 50 others hospitalized following a petrol tanker explosion in Jigawa early Wednesday morning, according to DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, Police Public Relations Officer,.
The unfortunate incident occurred in Majiya town Taura Local Government Area of Jigawa State, along Kano-Hadejia Expressway.
The Incident took place at approximately 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday, according to a Facebook post by Mansur Ahmed, the former Jigawa State Governor’s Media aide.
In the post, written in Hausa, Ahmed stated, “At least 300 people were critically injured, and many lives were lost following a devastating fire caused by the explosion of a fuel tanker in Majia town, Taura Local Government. The incident occurred between 11:45 p.m. and 3:15 a.m.”
