The Kano state government KNSG has shut down 12 and Delisted 3 Private clinics due to different violations in the last few months.

The director general Kano state private institutions management agency PHIMA Professor Salisu Ahmed Muhammad made the indication during an exclusive interview with Radio Nigeria in Kano.

According to him, Palace clinic, lafiya tafi kudi and minjirya health services were completely scrapped and delisted from practicing in the state, while 12 others were shut down pending the outcome of assessment to determine their eligibility.

He maintained that, PHIMA had mapped over 4,000 traditional medicine practitioners in the state and would issue free operational licenses to them.

The DG pointed out that, the agency had also engaged health training institutions and schools to formally train and mainstream them into the healthcare services.

Professor Salisu hinted that the the present administration has provided PHIMA with a permanent office, as it was operating in a rented building and stalled solar to ensure constant electricity supply, timely release of overhead cost as well as provision of operational vehicles.

He explained that the agency has recorded tremendous achievements including

“Review of PHIMA law 2017, regulation of chemist and other pharmaceutical shops, 5-year strategic plan, service charter for staff among others”

The DG highlighted that the private health institutions management agency PHIMA is mandated to register hospitals, clinics, laboratories, diagnostic, fitness, gymnastic, physiotherapy centres traditional medical practitioners among others.

Professor Salisu said all the institutions under PHIMA are expected to renew their registration annually, saying that the agency sanctions those that refuse to comply.

He commended Kano commended Kano state governor Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf and the commissioner for health Dr Abubakar Labaran Yusuf for their tireless efforts to ensure quality healthcare delivery.
