President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Shamsedeen Babatunde Ogunjimi as the new Accountant General of the Federation, effective March 7, 2025.

Ogunjimi’s appointment follows a rigorous selection process, which involved a written assessment, ICT proficiency test, and oral interviews.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President Information & Strategy Mr Bayo Onanuga.

The statement explained that, Ogunjimi, 57, brings a wealth of experience and academic credentials to the role. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and a Master’s in Accounting and Finance from the University of Lagos. He is also a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria.

President Tinubu has congratulated Ogunjimi on his appointment, urging him to discharge his duties with integrity, professionalism, and dedication to Nigeria’s service.
