The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has announced the removal of the product registration certificate requirement for cargo cleaning.
This move aims to facilitate trade and import cleaning, making it easier for businesses to operate.
The announcement was made by the Director General of SON, Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwunonso Okere, during a sensitization campaign in Kano.

The campaign, themed “The Importance of Standardisation in Growing Your Business and Ensuring Safety,” targeted freight forwarders, importers, exporters, and small business owners.
SON also reported a significant achievement in its enforcement activities, confiscating fake products worth over N20 billion in 2024.
This underscores the organization’s commitment to protecting consumers and promoting standardization in Nigeria.
