Jigawa State Government has called on contractors to strictly adhere to the standards and bill of quantities in the execution of all state-awarded contracts.
This directive was issued by the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abdullahi Kainuwa, during the public bid opening for the renovation of Dutse General Hospital and the procurement of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF). The event was held at the Ministry of Health’s Conference Hall in Dutse.
Dr. Kainuwa, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Kabiru Ibrahim, stated that the projects are part of the current administration’s efforts under Governor Malam Umar Namadi to improve healthcare delivery and living standards through social health insurance, improved infrastructure, and better working conditions for health workers, as outlined in the government’s 12-point agenda.
“What we are witnessing today is the public bid opening for the award of contracts for the supply of hospital equipment to 30 revitalized Primary Health Centers (PHCs) across the state, the general renovation of Dutse General Hospital, procurement of free delivery packs (Mama Kits) for pregnant women, and the procurement of RUTF,” he said.
He emphasized that the bid opening is part of the state’s commitment to transparency in the contract award process, allowing all bidders to assess and compare the status of their submissions.
Dr. Kainuwa warned successful bidders that the Ministry would strictly enforce the terms of the contracts, especially in relation to project timelines and quality of work.
“Any deviation from the agreed terms without due approval from relevant authorities may lead to serious consequences. Contractors are, therefore, strongly advised to carefully study and comply with all conditions in the contract agreement,” he said.
Also speaking at the event, Aminu Garba, a representative of the Due Process Office in Jigawa State, reiterated the government’s dedication to delivering high-quality projects that promote development and enhance public welfare.
On behalf of the contractors, Kabiru Muhammad commended the transparency and fairness of the bidding process.
A total of ten companies submitted bids for the renovation of Dutse General Hospital, procurement of RUTF, delivery kits for nursing mothers, and equipment for 30 PHCs across the state.
