President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of retired Deputy Inspector General of Police, Hashimu Argungu, as the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, PSC.
The President has also approved the appointment of Chief Onyemuche Nnamani as Secretary and retired Deputy Inspector General of Police Taiwo Lakanu as member of the Commission.

A statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, says the appointments are however subject to confirmation by the Senate.
It says other members of the Commission will be appointed in due course.
Also approved is the appointment of Mr. Mohammed Sheidu as the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund, NPTF, with immediate effect.
The statement says the President expects absolute demonstration of integrity, diligence, and patriotic zeal from the appointees.
Meanwhile, the Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action, who doubles as official spokesperson of the President, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, says he and his team are eagerly are looking forward to achieving the mandate set for it.
He stated this In Abuja when the new leadership team of the National Council on Climate Change, NCCC , led by its new Director-General, Dr. Nkiruka Maduekwe, paid him a courtesy visit, during which she briefed him on the evolution of plans for imminent organisational optimisation.
