The Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, has called on journalists in the state to uphold professionalism to enhance the effective reportage of government activities, which will ultimately benefit the public through improved access to accurate and timely information.

Comrade Waiya made this appeal while receiving reporters from various radio stations in the state attached to the Ministry of Information and Internal Affairs.
He emphasized the critical role of the media in shaping public perception and fostering development, stressing that the ministry is committed to working closely with all media organizations to ensure comprehensive coverage of government initiatives.

“The ministry will collaborate with media organizations to ensure effective coverage of the state government’s activities,” he stated.
The Commissioner also urged reporters to broaden their scope of reportage by highlighting community challenges that require prompt government intervention.

According to him, such efforts will contribute significantly to improving the living standards of the people of Kano State.
“Journalists have a critical role to play in portraying the state positively to attract investors because Kano is a peaceful place,” Comrade Waiya added.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Forum of Reporters attached to the ministry, Abubakar Tijjani from Freedom Radio, commended the Commissioner for fostering strong relationships between the ministry and the media, noting that this synergy will enhance effective information dissemination across the state.
