The Kano State House of Assembly has officially approved the Kano State Appropriation Law 2025, setting the budget at ₦719,755,417,663.00.

This development marks a significant increase from the initial proposal of ₦549,160,417,663.00, which was presented by Governor Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf for the 2025 fiscal year.

Kano Assembly Passes 2025 Budget into Law

The new budget, titled the Budget of Hope, Human Capital, and Economic Development, emphasizes investments in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and rural development.

According to a press statement signed by Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai, Chief Press Secretary to the Kano State House of Assembly, the internally generated revenue (IGR) for 2025 is projected at ₦75,718,779,890.00, accounting for 13.8% of the total expected earnings.

The remaining 86% of the budget is expected to come from Federation Accounts and Capital receipts.

The new budget structure comprises 36% recurrent expenditure (₦262,670,660,562.68) and 64% capital expenditure (₦457,084,757,200.32).

The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Jibril Ismail Falgore, commended the patience and commitment of the Honourable Members during deliberations.
