We particularly laud your courageous decision to declare a state of emergency in the education sector, a landmark policy move that signaled the beginning of a comprehensive transformation process.
This declaration led to the development and implementation of the Education Recovery Plan, through which your administration has:
Governor Yusuf’s Leadership Award Well Deserved- Comrade Waiya
Allocated 31% of the state’s annual budget to education, the highest in recent history;
Commenced the massive renovation and upgrade of public schools, ensuring a conducive learning environment;
Undertaken the recruitment and deployment of qualified teachers to address staffing gaps;
Facilitated the distribution of adequate learning materials to students and schools;
Strengthened institutional coordination among education MDAs for better planning and accountability.
These decisive actions followed an inclusive consultative process involving key stakeholders in the education sector — including civil society, development partners, traditional institutions, and community-based organizations — and have set Kano State on a path of educational renewal after years of underinvestment.
